Child abuse or civil liberty abuse?
We’re seeing an increasing trend in the gradual degradation of privacy in all aspects of our lives these days. The latest one to be hit could be the mobile phones that our youngsters are spending hours and hours (and dollars and dollars) on.
According to ABC News Australia, new software that has been developed and trialled successfully in the US, which allows parents to spy on the text messages that their children send and receive, could be coming to Australia.
According to the article, 171 paedophiles have successfully been caught in a trial in the States. But at what cost? And whatever happened to responsible parenting? Parents find it difficult enough to develop relationships based on two-way trust with their children, and is this really going to help?
